Passing Universal Health Care
America has given Democrats the authority to bring about substantive changes to the delivery and management of health care services. Barrack Obama has sought to include a “public option” within any bill to overhaul the healthcare system of this country.
Various healthcare industries have lobbied hard against the inclusion of a public, universal health care option. However, U.S. citizens are fighting back hard against these interests and using direct democracy to target key legislators across the country.
California Budget Crisis
At the June 2008 Tracy Dems meeting, a brainstorming session was held to come up with ideas on how to address the current budget crisis.
- Get rid of the super majority to pass budgets
- Need to educate our community to accept a tax increase
- Taxes – Place on the table for public education
- Converse with other Democratic Clubs in targeted areas. Target nearby Republican seats: Assemblyman Tom Berryhill (25th District) and Assemblyman Bill Berryhill (26th District)
- Help target Republican legislatures to limit funding which will affect their area
- Legalize and tax usage of marijuana
- Look at and propose other models. Select a budget model to endorse
- Look at long term budget
- Organize a Constitutional Convention
